Credit Union donation to support food and basic need programs
Golden 1 Credit Union (Golden 1) is pleased to announce it is contributing $100,000 toward California State University (CSU) food and basic need programs in support of Giving Tuesday on Dec. 3. The funds, going towards all 23 CSU campuses, will help provide college students in need access to food and essentials. According to the California Student Aid Commission, two in three California college students faces food insecurity.
“Student hunger is frequently a significant barrier for college students pursuing their educational dreams, and we are privileged to contribute to this essential support system for students in need,” said Erica Taylor, Senior Vice President of Community Impact and Public Relations Officer for Golden 1 Credit Union. “We know how hard CSU food pantries work in their mission to ensure every student can succeed without the worry of food insecurity, and Golden 1 is honored to support such a vital lifeline.”
This year’s donation marks the Credit Union’s third consecutive CSU offering for Giving Tuesday. Since 2012, Golden 1 has proudly donated approximately $800,000 to numerous food banks across California that provide essentials to families and individuals in need.
